Sister Cheryl Cureton

BOARD CHAIR

Cheryl Cureton is a native of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She currently resides in Durham, North Carolina. She received a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Cheryl is a Family & Consumer Sciences Teacher at Culbreth Middle School in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She is a veteran educator of 19 years and was honored to be Culbreth Middle School’s 2019-2020 Teacher of the Year. Prior becoming a Middle School Teacher, Cheryl was a Nutrition Program Director for a local non-profit organization in Orange County, North Carolina. The primary responsibility was monitoring the Congregate Nutrition Program and collaborating with local government and community agencies to provide services and funding for older adult programs.

Most of Cheryl’s career path is connected to serving the community. She also worked as a Nutritionist for over 10 years for a local Health Department in Hampton, Virginia. This position provided opportunities to collaborate and establish partnerships with community agencies to deliver nutrition and health related education to families. In regard to serving the community, Cheryl currently volunteers at a local non-profit that provides meals and services to those in need.
